How do plugins work?

How long does it take?
Plugins are installed in different ways depending on the underlying technologies involved, but it can generally be done fast. It can take a few days or weeks to install, test and push the plugin into production mode.
Can I have more than one plugin?
Yes. Most versions of Open edX will be compatible with our supported plugins.
Can we add plugins that are not supported?
Yes. If the plugin you want is not on our list of supported plugins, there is still a chance we can integrate it, especially if they provide developer documentation.
