Open edX® Tutorial: How to upload files to the course database.
When you build courses in Open edX Studio, you might be wondering where to upload your files, images, documents, etc., in order to use them to build your course. Open edX provides a convenient Files & Uploads page to do this. It acts like a course database for your content. Let’s navigate to the Files & Uploads page to start.
Note: This tutorial explains how to upload assets to the Files & Uploads page. It does NOT cover how to use the uploaded files in your course once they have been uploaded to your Files & Uploads page. If you want to learn how to link the Files & Uploads assets into your course then you can view the following tutorials: How to Add Images to Your Course in Open edX Studio or How to Add PDFs to Your Course in Open edX Studio.
Note: If you already know how to navigate to the course Files & Uploads page, you can go directly to Step 2 below.
Step 1: Navigate to the course Outline from inside Studio.
In order to access the Files & Uploads page, you first need to sign into Studio. From the Studio Home where all your courses are listed, click the course name of the course you want to enter. Step 3: Add your file to the Files & Uploads page.
On the Files & Uploads page you can either drag and drop your file, or browse your computer for the file. Let’s take a closer look at the part of the page where you can do this. As shown in the below image, you can upload several types of file formats, including audio, code, document, image or other. There is a maximum files size of 10MB, so if your file is larges than 10MB you should try make your files smaller (10MB or less) before you try upload it. If you drag and drop the files then aim for the rectangular area with the dotted border as per the below image.
