ABC was inspired by this year’s Open edX Conference in Montréal, Canada which was hosted by Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal, and Polytechnique Montréal, the three founding institutions behind EDUlib. From ABC, CEO Dean Jay Mathew and CTO Isanka Wijerathne were present.

Anant Agarwal, founder and President at edX, as usual made an encouraging opening speech where he welcomed the Open edX community to truly feel part of the Open edX movement and help expand access. Of particular note was the keynote by Georgia Tech University Dean, Zvi Galil, where he gave the Open edX community an exciting talk about Open edX and how Georgia Tech built an online masters degree using Open edX, being featued in TIME magazine. I was lucky enough to speak to both of them during the conference! Could there be cooler keynote speakers? Check out the talks from all the 2019 keynote speakers below.

Open edX Conference really is growing more awesome each year. Since I presented the IndonesiaX Open edX project at the 2015 conference, I would say it has more than tripled in size in terms of sponsors and attendees. Attendees of the 2018 conference were offered a 20% discount for the 2019 conference tickets, which I accepted. Either way I was always going to attend the 2019 conference, and by the way it is being hosted in San Diego in 2019 – I can’t wait. Open edX Conference has become my favourite work trip. See you in 2019!
